Learning can be fostered in a variety of ways, the least common of which is instilling a "spirit of inquiry." Sona has dedicated itself to offering wide chances for staff and students to engage in research and development activities to institutionalize this idea of learning. Sona College's dedication to innovative research in science, engineering, and technology has resulted in the establishment of more than 30 centres of excellence. Every department should have at least one of these centres.
The majority of departments have established two or three centres. Applied research, product development, learning-resources creation, and industrial training are the main focuses of the centres. All these facilities have cutting-edge technology and equipment.
Inter-discipline research, particularly in the areas of nanotechnology, robotics, and automation, is generating new ideas and promoting the development of innovative products and processes. Sona's research, development, and innovation are supported by both faculty and students.
Management shares 60:40 in the net revenue of such projects with Sona College of Technology teachers and students to encourage them to take out Consultancy Projects and testing services for industry.
